Statement on COVID-19

Kopan's Funeral Service humbly offers services and support that are essential to many individuals. We will continue to serve our community in these complicated times and by monitoring the situation closely and taking immediate action when needed. While we are doing what we can to help families in need we will also take measures to ensure the health and well-being of our staff, our community and families we are honoured to serve. While the risk is elevating in Saskatchewan, we are taking this situation seriously.

Here are the steps we are taking to ensure the health and safety at Kopan's Funeral Service.

We will remain open with normal operating hours to best accommodate families needs. An Emergency preparedness plan is in place that includes caring for all during these unprecedented times. Our current facility is equipped to handle any COVID-19 deceased if required.

Kopan's will continue to be proactive in accordance with our pandemic planning and guidance from various agencies including Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Saqib Shahab, and the Funeral and Cremation Services Council of Saskatchewan.

As with any virus or respiratory illness, good hygiene practices such as frequent handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying at home and away from others when you are feeling ill is crucial in reducing the spread of illness.

We encourage everyone to review the Government of Saskatchewan's website regarding COVID-19 for further information can be found here.

Arranging and Scheduling Funerals - what we are doing

  • Please call prior to visiting the funeral home. We cannot stress this enough.
  • We are scheduling appointment times for arranging funerals for families in person, via telephone or by video call.
  • If you have been feeling ill, or live with someone who may be compromised, please contact us by phone and we can set up a video call for arraingments. Signage has been put up reminding everyone of this.
  • Vigilant continual disinfecting of all high-touch surfaces within the funeral home

In consultation with various agencies and carefully considering Dr. Saqib Shahab’s announcements, Kopan's wants to reassure families that we are working within the guidelines to provide the a service for your loved one and proceed with funeral services, as this is an important step in the healing process.

Funerals Services and Celebrations of Life

  • Funerals are continuing to take place.
  • Social Distancing is now mandatory.
  • Signage regarding sharing condolences and providing your support but limiting your physical contact when with the family has been put up.
  • Limiting attendees to 10 people or fewer in the funeral home, according to law.
  • Online streaming is being made available for others to view the service.
